Interestingly, this is not too big a deal, since you have both an electric starter and a kick start, it can run without a battery. Though I think that means that your lights would not work unless the engine was running, and even then the headlight would grow brighter or dimmer depending upon how high the engine was revving. The battery turned out to be old and busted, like with warped sides and stuff. So we replaced it, because I wanted everything to be working properly. Who wants to be alone out on the floodplain, 20km from the nearest village, and have something break? That would be a long way to push it home.. The battery was not holding a charge.
