The header image for this website was taken on July 3rd down on the floodplain in Steung Sen District, Kampong Thom. The bicycle owners were all working at a large eucalyptus plantation about three kilometers to the southeast. They would have ridden the whole way, but recent rains had turned the road into a long, knee-deep, mud-bottomed pond. So, most folks parked their bikes and walked the rest of the way. The picture was taken from the road (in reality, the muddy pond margin). Freshly plowed rice fields are visible in the background. These will be sown soon, if they have not already, and will be harvested in about 3 months.
And in case you are wondering, I too parked my motorbike there and walked in to see the new tree plantation.
